Obituary: Canon EOS Neckstrap

Farewell old friend – but you will not be missed

You have served me well for the past 2 1/2 years but you’ve been replaced, by a funky new BlackRapid RS-5 R-Strap

You were a one-trick pony, a little rough around the edges and frankly just not as stylish as your replacement.

Don’t come crawling back as you are no longer wanted. Perhaps you’ll find a new home when I finally sell my camera, but until then you’ll be relegated to a box in a cupboard.

Not to rain on your parade too much, I’d like to introduce your replacement to the world;

Meet the RS-5 R-Strap from BlackRapid

r-strap

Fully adjustable, letting the camera hang down by my side, with ready access whenever its needed

Storage galore, with room for my iPhone, credit cards, CF card and spare battery – the feeling of not needing a camera bag is liberating

I’m now able to have a drink without you reminding me you’re there, bumping into display cases at shows or making the camera stick out like a tourist

Navigating through crowds is a breeze and you can swing the camera and lens behind your back when the wheelie bag ladies are gunning for you (from all angles), or hoist it out of harms way from infants in pushchairs.

Frankly, I don’t know why I didn’t make the change earlier

Mounting on a tripod is simple too, just unscrew the fastener from the tripod connector and your camera is now free of straps completely

If there’s one thing you need to buy this year, it’s a new camera strap – but not just any old neckstrap – make it a BlackRapid R-Strap
